Medical Record Release of Information

The OnBase Medical Record Release of Information module secures patient information and protects patient privacy. Documents and media from multiple patient information systems are stored in and retrieved from one central location, providing a comprehensive electronic health record. Access to this information is defined by requestor and includes an associated auditing process to ensure that information is released in accordance with state and federal laws. Administrative efficiencies are gained utilizing automated billing tools.

The flexibility of this module provides an organization the ability to utilize OnBase as the content repository for the entire electronic medical record or as a tool to assimilate multiple components of the requested medical record. Upon receiving the request for patient information, the Medical Record Release of Information module retrieves the requested information, regardless of the system from which the content originated. The requested information may be printed, electronically transferred or published to a CD for access to the authorized requester.

Designed to meet HIPAA privacy standards, the Medical Record Release of Information module captures disclosure of patient information across an organization in one secure system. Audit reporting tools manage what information was authorized to be released and who requested that information. By storing the original release form in the same centralized repository, OnBase provides an audit trail from the point of consent to authorized release of information.

The Medical Record Release of Information module facilitates the workflow process for managing release of information requests. Communication with requestors is streamlined via automated letter and invoice creation. Invoice creation is generated by calculating the number of pages released and the associated fee for that specific requestor.  Management reports provide request processing and turnaround time for completing requests.
