Document Imaging for PACS

Radiology practices across the country have integrated the documents in their OnBase repositories with RIS and PACS systems to improve document accessibility and security and improve patient care and service. However, OnBase also provides a standalone solution for scanning documents directly to a PACS, Document Imaging for PACS.

OnBase Document Imaging for PACS allows documentation generated outside the PACS system, such as orders and supplemental reports, to be imported into the patient's PACS record. These documents are viewed directly from the same interface as the images, eliminating the need for clinicians to deal with paper or toggle between disconnected applications to view all of the data related to a single study.

Documents can be imported into a PACS from a variety of sources, including scanning. The documents are indexed from DICOM work lists and viewed by clinicians as DICOM documents.

Application

Document Imaging for PACS is appropriate for radiology practices that wish to eliminate labor requirements and potential risk associated with managing paper documents. Instead of transporting paper and maintaining filing cabinets, imaging center clinicians can immediately view the documents they are looking for without leaving the PACS interface. Because they are DICOM images, the documents can also be shared between locations that have the ability to share medical images.

Core Features

  • Allows multi-location practices with the ability to share medical images to also share document images

  • View supplemental reports, orders and all other documentation associated with a study as DICOM images within the PACS interface

  • Encourages user acceptance through ease of use, such as the ability to index documents from DICOM work lists and retrieve images from within the PACS
