Integration for eCopyT ShareScanT OP
Networked scanners and multifunction digital copiers are increasingly prevalent in all types of businesses. These devices provide simple solutions for printing, copying and imaging the multitude of business documents from anywhere in an organization. The OnBase Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP adds additional capability to these devices. This integration allows an organization to use networked scanners or multifunction digital copiers to capture document images and route them directly into the OnBase system, providing additional value from a piece of equipment an organization might already own.
Application
The OnBase Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP enables the use of the OnBase document management system as the back-end repository for storing documents captured from eCopy. A user simply selects the OnBase button from the eCopy touch screen, enters their OnBase user name and password and selects the document type for the scanned document. Index values can also be entered if necessary to archive that document into OnBase.
The OnBase Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP uses OnBase Core Services for archiving documents into OnBase. Once the scan device is added, users select the OnBase option on the eCopy touch screen, use the keyboard to log on to OnBase and use a drop-down selection to assign the document type they are scanning. Available document types can include all the document types available to that user or a select group of document types set within a configuration. They may also enter appropriate index information. Documents can be saved in either TIFF or PDF file formats. The scanned document is then archived directly into OnBase where it is immediately available for retrieval.
This solution provides the capability to capture business documents from multiple locations without excessive user training. This simplified document capture process provides a straightforward and structured means for authorized employees to archive business content into OnBase.
